We
have been invited to install a permanent exhibit in a newly created
space in the Fiesta del Reyes of Old Town State Historic Park. The
exhibit will demonstrate the "roles" women played in the early years
of San Diego from 1821 to 1872.
Forty
years ago (Sept 1969 to May 1970) a small group of female college
students and faculty in San Diego took on the establishment and made
change in the world: the nation's first Women's Studies program was
created at SDSU. This is their story.
